How To Get To Melbourne Park

Melbourne is a cultural melting pot of sorts. It houses the country’s busiest airport, has a great climate, abundant cultural attractions, delicious food, and a nightlife that never seems to sleep! Needless to say, it is the perfect spot for Skydiving. You’ve now decided that Melbourne is your skydiving spot of choice, now what? Let us take you to the top three skydiving locations in Melbourne.

From CBD

To get to Melbourne Park (the site of the Australian Open), all you have to do is show your valid Australian Open ticket at the Tram Stop at the intersection of Flinders St. and Swanston St.

From St. Kilda

You may reach Melbourne Park from Richmond by walking 500 metres from Balaclava Train Station by rail, just 10 minutes away from the Australian Open Venue.

At Flinders St Station, get on tram 16 and transfer to tram 70 or 70a towards Melbourne Park.

From Barkly st, take bus 246 and get out at Swan St junction and Punt Rd, Richmond. The park is just a short walk away from there.

You’ll need a Myki card for public transportation, such as trains or buses, other than the free Tram. The 711 convenience store chain, as well as other retailers and railway stations, sell Myki cards. Just input your location, and it will show you the nearest retail location where you can purchase one. You may buy the card for $6 and then top it up with Myki money or Myki passes.

Myki money costs $3.90 for a two-hour trip and you may only use it twice a day, putting the daily cap at $7.80. Weekends are a tad more affordable, with a day pass costing no more than $6.00. A Myki pass may be more cost-effective if you live and work in Melbourne and often use public transportation.

Bus Service

The Australian Open may be reached by taking a bus to Flinders Street Station and then walking or taking a tram from there. Passengers on all other lines may use the Southern Cross or Flinders Street stations to connect to free shuttle tram services from Flinders Street.

There will be express buses running between Caulfield and Federation Square, which will stop at all of the stations along the route. Caulfield and Richmond will also have additional services accessible.

Taxi/Uber Service

Near the Grand Slam Oval, there is a taxi stand on Olympic Boulevard. Flinders Street Station’s taxi stand is the best option for fans departing through Birrarung Marr. There are pick-up and drop-off spots on the north side of Olympic Boulevard, near Melbourne Arena, for individuals who need a ride to the event.

Regional Trains

Coaches will substitute trains from Thursday, January 2 to Thursday, January 30 as part of the Gippsland Line renovation.

Coaches are substituting trains between Southern Cross Station, Traralgon, and Bairnsdale to transport you to the courtside action. They are fast, semi-express, and halt at all stops.

Parking

Parking may be bought as an add-on when purchasing your ticket; however, there is a limit to the number of spaces available. Parking at Yarra Park is provided for a fee of $10 per vehicle.  Because there are no cash payment options available, the parking cost must be paid with a credit card.

The Final Word

While watching the Australian Open tennis competition in Melbourne Park is a lot of fun, those using public transportation are suggested to plan and keep an eye on timetables and social media feeds to ensure that they get at their location on schedule.
